Hello

My name is Paul Gurry, and like many people I thought I knew how to relax, especially after 14 years of delivering stress reduction workshops and practicing meditation for years.

However, I've since discovered that we accumulate nervous tension in our bodies daily, which hinders our ability to truly relax. To feel refreshed and revitalized, it's essential to release this tension and quiet our minds. Then you feel rejuvenated both physically and mentally. It's a wonderful feeling!

It is similar to changing the oil in your car: if you don't, mechanical problems can arise. Likewise, neglecting to release nervous tension from your body can lead to various wellness issues.

My Story

I had the pleasure of delivering workshops for 14 years, partnering with leading organizations to reach a diverse range of people.

Initially, in collaboration with the Fremantle Education Centre, my workshops helped long-term unemployed individuals overcome mental barriers to employment. I delivered these workshops across the Perth metropolitan area, various country centres, and in Darwin and Bendigo, Victoria.

Next Denise Bayliss (deceased), the former CEO of Richmond Fellowship of WA (now Richmond WA), successfully arranged a trial of my program in mental health. Her successor, Joe Calleja, then secured a Lotterywest grant of $160,000, which allowed over 150 individuals dealing with mental health issues to attend my workshops.

An independent report commissioned by Lotterywest found that 70% of participants were helped, some in significant ways. The success of these initiatives led to further partnerships with the Mental Illness Fellowship of WA (MIFWA) and Red Cross Carer Support in WA.

It has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling helping to improve the quality of people's lives. I have referenced Paramahansa Yogananda (author of Autobiography of a Yogi) when describing the art of proper relaxation.

Below is a brief two-minute video that explains what motivated me to learn the art of proper relaxation myself.
